The Sr. Manager of Product Strategy and Planning is responsible for research and planning activities that support new business development within existing product lines. These responsibilities include: ongoing review of the market to identify new opportunities, target markets and customers; competitive business analyses; creating business descriptions and specifications; developing initial business positioning and pricing recommendations; and completing business feasibility analyses through existing business case development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Prepares market analyses in formulating business development strategy. -Develops business descriptions, functional requirements and input into technical specifications in collaboration with other departments and stakeholders. -Designs research methodologies for market and competitive analyses. -Conducts and/or coordinates additional research, as needed, to fully develop product concepts and requirements and marketing research required to develop competitive intelligence data. -Performs competitive analyses for existing and planned business offerings. -Creates and maintains a market intelligence knowledgebase. -Performs tasks as required to develop and maintain a competitive intelligence database to support business development, sales, proposals and marketing staff. -Produces ad hoc market analyses/product opportunity briefings as required. -When required for a given research project, oversees the selection process for external vendors, and manages the engagement with those vendors. -Coordinates the creation of business feasibility studies and preliminary business plans for proposed products. -Analyzes deployed products and develops strategies/recommendations for performance enhancement, innovation or retirement. -Develops the preliminary recommendations for positioning new business offerings in the market (e.g., with respect to pricing, features, target market, etc.). -Creates budgets for business research activities. -Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
-Bachelor's degree in marketing, business management or related field. -MBA degree required.
Experience:
-At least 3~4 years of experience in market research, business/strategic planning and/or business development in a consumer environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Experience with and knowledge of consumer market data sources and research tools. -Demonstrated ability to analyze complex market data, identify relevant trends and present this information in a distilled form for use by senior decision-makers. -Experience in developing business descriptions, requirements and specifications. -Highly developed communication skills, including excellent writing and (graphic) presentation development abilities. -The ability to work collaboratively in a highly charged environment. -Strong organization skills. -Ability to take initiative, think and act independently as well as getting the job done through others. -Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Access and Project, Visio knowledge helpful.
